Impact100Melbourne

Join the Impact100 Melbourne Community

Welcome!

Impact100 Melbourne is a community of people hoping to change lives in Melbourne by awarding high-impact grants to charitable organisations. We believe that pooling our financial and intellectual resources creates a ripple effect in our community. We take small steps to improve the world. Our donors fee fulfilled.  Together we inspire more people – and the cycle grows.

Our Giving Circle members contribute financially, as well as giving energy, attention and talent, by making transforming gifts to small charitable organisations doing great work.

The Impact100 concept is simple:

100 Members x $1000 each have 1 vote to decide where to give $100,000

Grants go to small organisations with big ideas and great potential.

Everyone is welcome to join us. All it takes is one financial contribution so there are funds available to distribute at the end of every year!

Impact100Melbourne is a named sub-fund of the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation. Now in our fifth year, so far we have collectively donated more than $430,000 to amazing Melbourne charities.

The Impact100 model solves some of the problems holding people back from being involved in philanthropy.  These might be not knowing where to start, or not knowing where your money is going, or understanding if your donation is making an impact.

By joining Impact100 Melbourne you become part of a like-minded, community.  It’s made up of people who want to create a social impact larger than what they could achieve alone.  Impact100 Melbourne helps you give strategically.  You will know how your donation is spent and making a difference.  You can participate in the grant-making process and understand our community’s challenges and needs, and you will be part of powerful philanthropy. (Learn more in this feature article in The Age newspaper.)

At Impact100 Melbourne, we want to provide high-impact grants to support under-served populations.  We want to raise the profile of lesser-known not-for-profit organisations, highlight unmet needs and grow philanthropy and generosity across Melbourne.

How does Impact100 Melbourne work?

100 people x $1000 each = $100,000.  Every member has 1 vote – whether you give $1000 or $10,000. Our aim is $100,000 every year, growing our giving community.  Your contribution can be as one gift, or as regular payments throughout the year.  It can even be a syndicate or pool of your friends.

All donations are pooled to make one large grant to a Melbourne organisation working to support our focus area. Impact100Melbourne invites grant applications from nonprofit organisations who meet the fund’s criteria. These applications are shortlisted down to four, who are presented to our Members at an annual Grant Awards event. Members then vote to choose each year’s grant recipient.

Donations over $2 are fully tax-deductible as Impact100Melbourne is a named sub-fund of the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation.

Please choose Impact100 Melbourne in the “campaign” pull down menus when you make a donation through the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Fund’s website.  Please also email us at info@impact100melbourne.org so we can ensure we have everyone’s details.
