Welcome to Impact100 Melbourne!
We are a group of people who love Melbourne and want to join together with others to make it a better place for everyone. We do this through a Giving Circle – each of us contributes financially, as well as giving our energy, attention and talents, to making gifts to organisations which are doing great work to help our city.
The Impact100 concept is simple:
100 Members x $1000 each = $100,000 to be given away.
Anyone is welcome to become a Member – any gender, age or background. The only condition is that you contribute financially to ensure that we have the funds to distribute at the end of every year!
Impact100Melbourne is a sub-fund of the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation. We are now in our fourth year, and so far we have collectively donated more than $330,000 to amazing Melbourne charities in the past two years. Read about us in this great feature article in The Age newspaper.
Our mission is to provide high-impact grants that reach under-served populations, raise the profile of deserving but lesser-know not-for-profit organisations, highlight unmet needs in our region and increase involvement in philanthropy across Melbourne.
How does Impact100 Melbourne work?
The simplest way to describe the concept is: 100 people x $1000 each = $100,000 to be given away. Impact100Melbourne aims to raise $100,000 in funding every year, ideally through 100 people – friends, family, colleagues and even strangers – each putting in $1,000 collectively or individually (either in one donation, or as interval payments throughout the year).
This $100,000 is pooled to make one large impact grant to a Melbourne-based organisation that is working to support the issue we have chosen to focus on. Donations are fully tax-deductible. The Impact100Melbourne donations go into a sub-fund of the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation. Impact100Melbourne will invite grant applications from across the not-for-profit sector who meet the fund’s criteria. These applications will be shortlisted to four organisations, who will then be invited to present to donors at an annual Presentation and Grant Awards Dinner to be held in Melbourne. Read more about the grant strategy, beneficiaries and more at About Us.
Our 2015 Winner – Kids Off the Kerb!
On 12th November 2015 our members and friends had a fabulous night getting to know the Four Fab Finalists and viewing their stories via pro bono films from The Post Project. You can find all the photos from the night at our Impact100Melbourne Facebook page.
It was certainly hard to make the decision on who to vote for! Many thanks to our marvellous scrutineer David Kitchen who checked the votes and to the lovely Matt Heine, netwealth, who was the lucky one to make the big announcement.
Thanks to our fabulous 2015 supporters and friends: Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation, Netwealth, The Post Project, Leadership Victoria, Foundation for Young Australians, Deakin Social Enterprise Club and Reach Foundation.
