Impact100Melbourne

Join the Impact100 Melbourne Community

Welcome!

Impact100 Melbourne is a community of people seeking to transform lives in Melbourne by awarding high-impact grants to charitable organisations. We believe in pooling our financial and intellectual resources to create a ripple effect in our community. We take small steps to improve the world, our donors gain a sense of fulfilment and inspire more people – and the cycle grows.

Through our Giving Circle members contribute financially, as well as giving energy, attention and talent, to making transforming gifts to small charitable organisations who are doing great work in our city.

The Impact100 concept is simple:

100 Members x $1000 each have 1 vote to decide where to give $100,000

Our grants go to small organisations with big ideas and great potential.

Everyone is welcome to join us. All you need to do is make one financial contribution to ensure that we have funds available to distribute at the end of every year!

Impact100Melbourne is a named sub-fund of the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation. We are in our fourth year, and so far we have collectively donated more than $330,000 to amazing Melbourne charities.

The Impact100 model solves the problems holding some people back from giving and donating, such as where to start, how to know where your money is going? and how to know if your donation is making an impact.

Impact100 enables you to join a like-minded, community driven group who want to have a social impact beyond what they could achieve individually.  It helps you give strategically and you will know how your donation is being spent and making a difference.  You participate in the grant-making process and develop a greater understanding of our community’s challenges and needs, and you take part in powerful philanthropy. (You can learn more about  us in this great feature article in The Age newspaper.)

Our mission is to provide high-impact grants that reach under-served populations, raise the profile of deserving but lesser-known not-for-profit organisations, highlight unmet needs in our region and increase philanthropy and generosity across Melbourne.

How does Impact100 Melbourne work?

100 people x $1000 each = $100,000.  Every member has 1 vote – whether you give $1000 or $10,000. We aim to raise $100,000 in every year, growing our giving community beyond our friends, family, colleagues, each putting in $1,000 (in one gift, or as regular payments throughout the year).

The funds raised are pooled to make one large impact grant to a Melbourne organisation working to support the issue we have chosen to focus on. Impact100Melbourne invites grant applications from nonprofit organisations who meet the fund’s criteria. These applications are shortlisted to four, who are present to our Members at an annual Grant Awards event. Read more about the grant strategy, beneficiaries and criteria here.

Donations over $2 are fully tax-deductible as Impact100Melbourne is a named sub-fund of the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation.

Thank you to our key supporters: Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation, Netwealth and the Post Project. – check out the Post Project’s fantastic films about our previous finalists here:
