Worth a read: Chris Wilson on Giving Circles

By Australian Institute of Grants Management

Giving Circles can offer trusted advisers a number of benefits ... and are a lot of fun!

That's the verdict of Chris Wilson, trusted advisor and founding committee member of Impact100 Melbourne in a piece published on the Philanthropy Australia blog.

Mr Wilson, who is also a partner at Koda Capital and director at the Reach Foundation, writes that relationships are central to the role of trusted adviser, and that Giving Circles emphasise the importance of relationships.

"Giving circles are about bringing people together from all walks of life. In our giving circle we have young professionals, professors, entrepreneurs, successful business owners, non-profit professionals, renowned philanthropists, business executives and the list goes on," he writes.

"For trusted advisers (especially those less seasoned) networking opportunities are the key to building a successful career. Giving circles offer you an opportunity to build your networks in a rewarding environment."

But more than just "building relationships", Mr Wilson said being a part of a Giving Circle was lots of fun and "a phenomenal experience".
